1. Is your Company Ready for the Looming Talent Drought?[HBR]

The current dean of Harvard Business School and the author of this article concluded that there’s going to be a significant talent drought soon, based on a study in 2007.

The study gauges the effects of three factors (globalization, demographics and leadership pipelines), on competition for senior talent in large organizations.

The results were dire: Only 15% of the firms in the Americas and Asia, and less than a third of those in Europe, had enough people primed to lead them into the future. New survey and research data we have compiled show that the situation has grown even worse.

2. Everyday is 'Take Your Kid to Work Day' at this Tech Company [Fast Company]

With one-third of her development team being female and little turnover rate, CEO Sabrina Parsons of Oregon-based Palo Alto Software may be onto something.

“You’re in the prime of your career with all of this experience, when you get mommy-tracked. They get ‘concerned’ that you can’t do your job. That’s a huge reason why we’re not seeing women in leadership roles across Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies and in politics,” she says.

Here’s a fun new way to use social media for hiring. One pub wants the most creative, unique bartenders to send job applications via Snapchat only. With the app’s recent update, which includes “24 hour Snapchat Stories,” the possibilities are endless. Could be an interesting recruiting idea worth exploring?

4.  How to Quiet Your Inner Critic [Fast Company]

In his book The Untethered Soul, author Michael Singer says people do this to protect themselves from the world. If they narrate it in their mind, then they feel like they have more control of what’s happening, but this is untrue.

“Your thoughts have far less impact on this world than you would like to think. If you’re willing to be objective and watch all your thoughts, you will see that the vast majority of them have no relevance. They have no effect on anything or anybody, except you.” 

5. Apple's Corporate HQ is Hiring a Full-Time Coffee Server [Time]

Apple is hiring an "iCup Technician" to join the team. As part of their company culture, Apple apparently wants to make sure each and every team member is fully caffeinated.
