Executive Recruiter Jennifer Long recently had the opportunity to help a client in the software industry narrow down exactly what it was looking for in a pre-sales engineer.

“I presented dozens of candidates and helped them define what they were looking for,” Jennifer recalls. “As we tailored the role to their needs, I kept my head down and stayed on top of them with each candidate I sent — we finally found the perfect fit!”

Why did you present this candidate for the job?

He had all of the technical experience that my client was looking for, along with an engaging personality and the ability to translate technical terms into something a non-technical person can understand. This was perfect since the person in this role has to be technical, but also personable in dealing with customers and assisting in the sales process.

Why is your client a great employer to work for?

They are growing drastically and there is a lot of flexibility to grow both personally and technically. They are backed by a very successful IT firm abroad, and are taking what has worked well overseas and building out teams across the U.S.

How did you help the candidate land the job?

I offered interview coaching and gave a lot of insight as to why the position is open, where other candidates have missed the mark in the past and what aspects of his background made him a great match for the role.

What made this placement special?

I have a great relationship with my client — I even called to tell him when I got engaged! So it was fun to see them excited — we were able to celebrate and congratulate each other on hard work that paid off. It feels great to participate in the growth of a company and find someone that perfect job!
